Residential Load Calculator Mike Holt.com -  Excel Spreadsheet. Here is how it works,

Step 1, by inserting area sq ft, number of small appliance and laundry circuits. A drop-down box has been added to convert from square feet to meters.

Step 2, As contractors suggested the calculator was expanded for more than 2 HVAC units, later versions increased HVAC to 5 units.

Step 3, Insert the quantity of fixed appliances. Original loads were used from the average appliance loads for the GE appliance guide. Now you can customize HVAC and appliance loads by means of an equipment set-up sheet (this is found by the tab at the bottom left of your screen) with fixed and new entry cells (blue cells are fixed loads, yellow cells to insert your own personal entries).

Step 4, insert number of household dryers

Step 5, Range demand, with separate entries for column A & B appliances. In Standard mode you can enter the kW for one range or just enter the number of appliances for a Column ‘C’ demand. You can then calc a Col B demand (if applicable for kW) for these appliances and the calculator will select the smaller of the two load calculations. When using the “Optional’ calc with a Gas Range, be sure to use the check to box or the calculation will not total because it appears incomplete.
